- Inconel 600 Pipes and Tubes
Inconel 600 Pipes and Tubes
Inconel 600 with its higher nickel content makes it retain sufficient resistance under reducing conditions and provides resistance to corrosion by many organic and inorganic compounds. Inconel 600 seamless pipe makes it excellently resistant to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking and alkaline solutions.
Production Process
Alloy 600 or UNSN06600 are produced with methods like ERW (Electric Resistance Welded), Seamless and EFW (Electric Fusion Welding) where the Inconel 600 tubes and pipes having a different form such as round, square, rectangle, etc. are produced. These Inconel 600 seamless pipes have particular ends as a plain end, bevel end, and threaded end with normal thickness of different ranges such as SCH 5 to SCH XXS.

Fabrication And Heat Treatment
The reason why Inconel 600 pipe price is reasonable due to its fabrication is easy with either hot or cold working and can be easily joined by regular welding, brazing, and soldering methods. Although the Inconel 600 alloy can be hardened and strengthened using a cold work process only. A variety of mechanical properties can be gained in finished parts by joining cold work and thermal treatments together.

When annealed at a temperature of 1010°C for at least for 15 minutes, the Inconel 600 seamless pipes and tubes get softened easily. Inconel 600 undergoes heat treatment with solution method at 1090°C – 1150°C to dissolve carbides. It should be noted that heat treatment could affect corrosion resistance and the alloy’s high temperature properties.
Properties
Inconel 600 seamless pipe has good creep and oxidation resistance and the tubes are also popular for their high performance. These Inconel 600 pipes can be formed in a variety of shapes. Along with its corrosion resistance, Inconel 600 seamless pipes have better strength, good metallurgical stability, and extra-ordinary fabrication characteristics.

The notable content of chromium gives Inconel 600 seamless pipes & tubes exceptional resistance to oxidizing chemicals and also to oxidizing gases of soaring-temp. Inconel 600 pipe fittings are used with basic nickel-chromium alloys for corrosive and/or high temperature applications. The higher amount of chromium makes Inconel 600 pipe fittings and tubes extremely resistant to attack from hot gases or oxidizing chemicals.

The chromium content also provides Inconel 600 tubes with outstanding resistance to aqueous corrosion by oxidizing acids especially nitric acids, salts, and sulfidation at elevated temperatures. Inconel alloy 600 seamless pipes have superior stress cracking resistance in steam generation in nuclear reactors which is why they are used as piping, separators, and weldments.
Applications
Due to reasonable Inconel 600 pipe price, its applications are wide such as industrial heaters, stills, bubble towers, and condensers for processing of fatty acids. They are also used in evaporator tubes, tube sheets, and flaking trays to manufacture sodium sulfide; and equipment for handling acetic acid in the paper pulp industry.
1: In Pressure Vessel and Reactors
2: Chemical processing, food processing, and aerospace industries.
3: In nuclear equipment, steam generators, superheaters, and electronic parts.
4: It is common in Gas turbine blades, seals, and combustors, Turbocharger rotors, and seals.
5: Inconel 600 seamless pipes are increasingly used in the boilers of waste incinerators.
6: Inconel alloy is also used in the automobile industry.
